Racheal I’m sure there are many actors and crew out there like myself that have spent time (usually for free) working on a film production with the promise of receiving a copy of the film and/or credit, only to never receive anything nor hear back from those that made the film. Or if you do hear back, you are given a number of excuses – it’s not finished, it’s still editing, etc etc. You end up giving up trying. Many actors will often do short films as a way of building their showreel – so it is very disappointing to have taken time out of your own schedule to dedicate to filming for free, only to be ghosted.
These are the films I have noted I did work on that I don’t believe were ever finished, or received a copy, or I never heard from again – if you know of any of these I’d love to hear from you!
- 2002 – Club Spectrum – Short Film – I believe this was an indie film, and I was a background artist in a nightclub scene.
- 2003 – Brace Yourself – Short Film – Possibly a student film? Once again I was a background artist in a nightclub scene.
- 2003 – Hotel Redemption – Short Film – Student Film that appeared to never be finished. I was a diner in a restaurant scene.
- 2003 – The Surgical Entrepreneurs – Short Film – This was an indie film made by Vernon Johnson whom I remember was part of a film club in Brisbane. I was one of the main characters, Hilary, who had jaundice. I made a few films with Vernon, but have lost contact with him over the years. I don’t believe this film was ever finished and from memory there were some issues with the film footage that was taken.
- 2003 – Love & Valour – Feature Film – An indie film by Tony Teulan. I was a French Resistance Soldier. I’m not sure it was ever finished and I only have one photo taken (see below). But it was through this production I met the Sparkes and became involved with Anzac Day & other productions.
- 2004 – Tales of the 34th Battalion – Feature Film Proof of Concept – This was an indie film by Luke Sparke but filming was only a POC I believe to be used to pitch for funding. I was a German wife by the name of Heidi. I don’t believe they have ever made the full film and I never saw the POC (which is not unusual).
- 2004 – The High Fashion Project – Short Film – I believe this was an indie production that was never finished. My character was Deborah, whom was an overweight, fashion assistant with an eating disorder. I was disappointed about this one as I enjoyed the filming and really wanted to see how it turned out, but never heard from them again and lost the contacts over the years.
- 2005 – Discidium – Feature Film (possibly a POC) – This was an indie film which I don’t think was ever finished. I was a background artist as a vampire for this one.
- 2006 – Stage Fright – Short Film – I think this was a student film. I was one of four hostages – and I only have a photo taken (see below). I never saw the final film.
