Based on a true story, this short film was one of the best I’ve been involved with and was so much fun to make. This period drama about two sisters living together looking after their father and family, whilst their husbands are at war, was filmed at Wolston House – a historic house at Wacol, in Brisbane.
I don’t remember what the film was made for, or if it ever screened at festivals etc, as I lost contact with many of those involved over the years, with the exception of Graham K Furness, whom played my characters father. I already knew Graham from being involved with the ANZAC Day marches with Tracey Sparke, and we still keep in touch every now and then.
The one thing I do remember however, is that there were some scenes filmed outside, and one scene was quite emotional, but after the film had wrapped on location, I was asked to come into the studio to record some ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording). This was my first time ever doing ADR and it was a real challenge trying to recreate the emotion and scene completely out of context, and within the constraints of the studio, so this was very much a big learning curve! The film is now on my YouTube channel so I hope you enjoy watching it!!
